OBC NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS!
We have great news! Our Pastoral Search Committee which has been working overtime has found a new pastor for OBC! His name is Rev. Jonathan Brown. He will be preaching for the first time at OBC on September 19th. The congregation is encouraged to bring family and friends for this occasion. After the service, Rev. Chapman will moderate a special congregational meeting for the purpose of confirming the congregation's approval of Rev. Brown as our new Designated Pastor. If approved by the congregation, Rev. Brown will officially be our new pastor. For any questions, please contact any member of the Pastoral Search Committee.

Worship service at 11:00 AM will resume in the sanctuary on September 12th.

"Tea & Tunes" cancelled. Due to unavailability of most folks, and the need to prepare for the 19th, this affair scheduled for September 18th has been cancelled.

Sunday School and Coffee Hour on September 19th. Children's Sunday School resumes! Parents please bring your children to church at 9:30 AM. Coffee Hour will follow after the special congregational meeting.

Congratulations to the Folk family!- Baby Nathan Folk was baptized at OBC on August 1, 2010. Rev. Hilary Stryker officiated the baptism.

Condolences to the Williams and Nerahoo families- Ruth Williams, sister-in-law of Lillian Nerahoo passed away on July 14 at the age of 88 yrs. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. Martinez at OBC on July 17 and she was buried at the Bayview cemetery.

Summer Schedule!- Beginning June 27th, worship will start at 10:00 AM and will be held at the Chapel of Peace.

Congratulations to our graduates! Edwin Scott (Marist High School), Rex Morrison (St Mary High School), and Alvin Gangaram (Ferris High School). The three high school grads were presented with a college scholarship from OBC Sunday School on June 20th. Also, Myles Alcala will be graduating from grammar school (Academy 1).

Baby baptism - Congratulations to Sarah and Aaron Orr on the baptism of their baby, James Harvey Orr, on May 23rd. Rev. Martinez officiated the ceremony.

Thanks to all who participated in the May 14th and 16th activities- May 14th was OBC's presentation of "A Slice of History" in the rotunda at the old (Brennan) Courthouse. May 16th was a special service with an 1800's format. We are dedicating a special anniversary webpage to include highlights of these activities and future activities related to our 350th anniversary.

Condolences to Rachel Mungroo and family- Rachel's husband Sookdeo Mungroo passed away on Monday, April 12th. A private service was held for him on Wednesday, April 14th.

It's a boy!- Baby Aaron Ashton Persaud was born on April 6th weighing in at 4 lbs. 10 oz. Congratulations to Vanessa Shivprashad and husband!


Volunteers for Food Pantry needed- Please contact deacons to help out in picking up and unloading food on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Distribution is on the last Saturday of each month, except for November and December which will be one week earlier. See distribution schedule. Your assistance is greatly needed. We have noted a dramatic increase in the number of needy folks in our community.

It's a boy! Congratulations to John and Micaela Folk- baby Nathan was born March 9. Sarah and Donald now have a baby brother to fuss about.

Carol Rajcoonar Rambaran, sister of Martin Rambaran, died on Tuesday, March 2nd, and is survived by her son and 3 brothers. Service at OBC was held on Friday, March 5th, and she was buried at the Holy Name Cemetery (West Side Avenue). Carol will be missed by family and friends as she is remembered for her contagious optimism and joy.

Choir members needed- Your singing talents are urgently needed! You may attend practice sessions only for the songs that you like, or better yet, for any and all songs. The rewards are vast! Please contact Chris Johnson for any questions.

350th Anniversary Schedule of Activities- Please check the calendar regularly as new activities are being planned. All members and friends are urged to participate. Contact the 350th Anniversary Committee for any questions, comments, and suggestions. Among other things, the committee is soliciting ads from potential sponsors for the 350th anniversary souvenir journal. If you know of any company, organization, or individual who might want to advertise in our journal, please give the name, address, and phone number of the sponsor to anyone in the anniversary committee.
